Just a few days ago it seemed like the academic year was almost over but I still felt like I had lots of time. But today it hit me: this semester will be over before I know it. In less than 2 weeks my last final will be over and my summer will have officially started. This summer I will be walking across the entire country promoting a culture of life with an organization called Crossroads. With Crossroads I will be speaking about and standing up for my views on abortion. In today's episode I"ll be talking a little about my upcoming summer with Crossroads. And then I'm going share with you a story from my own life and reflect on how it has affected my views on abortion. Links from the podcast: Photo provided by: Music: |

EP#02 - Zealous Rap Music Today we have a special episode featuring the music of Franciscan University of Steubenville student, Aaron Hostetter. Aaron is better known by Catholic youth around the country as the Catholic rapper, Zealous. Aaron had been writing and performing rap music for some time when he decided to turn over his entire life to Christ, including his music. Zealous arrived on the Catholic hip-hop scene in 2004 with his first release, "Refocused". Very soon, Zealous found that his music was touching the hearts of young people. Eager to answer the call of Pope John Paul II, he began to perform his music at youth conferences and retreats. Zealous is a full time student but on weekends he travels the country sharing the message of hope with the young men and women of the nation. Today, we'll be listening to some of Zealous' music, hearing about his ministry, and learning how rap music can be used to speak to the hearts of young people. First I listened to the interviews Dr. Coyle provided and picked some sound bites out that i thought might help my story. I then decided from those SOTS how i wanted to write my story. I basically decided to do a feature news stlye package on what people and myself did on their day off. I then wrote my script with the sound bites spliced in. I tracked and edited the entire podcast in avid. I also added music later in avid that i got from Garageband.com. The Artist is Wisdom and the title Order and Chaos. After it was all put together i exported and burned it onto a disk as a wav. file. I later converted it to mp3 format in audacity. |
